The Giants – “Motorcycles, Tattoos, Rock ‘N’ Roll & Blues (4/5)
Playing a timeless brand of hard rocking blues The Giants surfaced in 1990 with the release of their first album.
The band’s driving force guitarist/singer/songwriter Stuart Wood oversaw a number of line-up changes prior to striking gold in 1990 when lead/slide guitarist Mark Greig (ex-Australian Crawl) came on board.
Wood’s intelligent arrangements, harmonica, keyboards here and there, shared lead vocal with Shani Saint-Aulbins on “Talkin’ Married Blues”, couple of ballads, add to the album’s appeal.
The rockabilly “Late Night Studio Blues” is a fitting tribute to Canned Heat Guitarist Mike Halby who died in 2008.
