Well it was certainly interesting , touring again that is !!
We set off with our new line -up ready to rock and rock we did . With Rod ( Two-Dollar ) Hoe and Sucko , the rhythm section from hell and new kid on the block , David ( Junior ) Gild dazzling all and sundry with his keyboard virtuosity , Marky and myself had a quick wake up call in that although we love doing the acoustic shows our hearts are still in live , loud , rock and blues !!
All the gigs were great fun and thanks must go to our great crew of Rod ( Muffin ) Chater , Luke Kliska , Cameron ( from Warrnambool , who jumped on board to help out when we were one crew member down ) , and of course the ever reliable Ram at the helm of Lana our tour bus .
After 10 gigs Lana decided to blow a rear main seal on her engine and we rolled into Marla Roadhouse 480 kms south of Alice Springs with a trail of oil following us , end of motor , end of tour !!!!
I have got to say that from that point onwards we were very humbled by the help and love we received from so many of our friends around the country . Firstly Greg and the crew from Marla Roadhouse , who put us up free of charge and was such a great help to me re-organising the rest of the tour ( 11 people to find beds for and storage for our stage gear and PA system ) . Ali Cobby-Eckerman , who drove down from The Alice to get us back to the airport . Also huge thanks to Graeme Reynolds who loaned us a car to get back to Marla to pick up our stage gear in time to start the Anderson , Taylor and Wood tour . Ram and myself drove for 27 hours staight to get back to Marla , only to be told when we got there that the tour had been postponed for a week ! We were not impressed ! Huge thanks also to KDL Transport in Adelaide for transporting our huge PA rig all the way home from Marla to Melbourne without a scratch on it , thanks Kim you are a legend !!! What can we say about our mate Geoff Howard ( co-owner of The Palace nightclub in Melbourne ) who although would have been concerned about his PA,s welfare , showed only concern for our predicament and our welfare , you truly are one of us Geoff !!! Thanks also to Rhonda Benbow from BP at Port Augusta , for putting myself and Ram up on our way back home to Melbourne , way to go girl ! Lastly Paul Rice , words cannot express our gratitude for helping us to get Lana home again Paul , thank you just seems so inadequate mate . It has been a hectic start to the year for us but it can only get better from here . I almost forgot Glenn from Disibio Transport and Hayden from Reliance Workshop in Alice Springs for their help also .
So its back to reality , on tour with Matt and Angry again , while we plan our " SAVING LANA TOUR " to be held sometime in March / April 2004 . Watch out for tour dates to be announced.
